MAINTENANCE HANDYPERSON CARE & REPAIR
Do you have DIY skills and an interest in helping older people in your
community?
Age Action?s Care & Repair programme provides a minor repairs,
maintenance and gardening service to older people who cannot do this
work themselves. Age Action is currently recruiting a maintenance
handyperson to join the Care & Repair team.
The Maintenance Handyperson position is a hugely rewarding role which
supports older people to remain living at home in increased safety and
comfort. It will prioritise older people who require work done in
their homes in order to return home from hospital.
The role involves driving Age Action vehicles from bases in Dublin
(one maintenance handyperson position) and Galway (one maintenance
handyperson position) to the homes of older people and completing
tasks to make their homes safer and more comfortable. Common requests
include moving a bed downstairs, installing grab rails, installing key
safes, garden tidy-ups, installing smoke alarms, clearing clutter and
changing light bulbs.
A caring attitude, strong DIY skills and a full clean driving licence
are essential. Tradesman level qualifications are not required but are
desirable.
